Innovation for an ageing population
The partners' common innovation project aims at showing how
off-the-shelf technology may be used to enable a larger number of
old people to stay home longer and offer care personnel the
opportunity to spend more of their working time on their core
activities.
"My department is a driving force in making sure that innovation
is not only occurring in industry, but also in the service sector.
In the area of health and care services the state of Norway is
itself a large customer. It is my government's opinion that the
public shall be responsible for this area - in interaction with
private players", said the minister.
Minister of Trade and Commerce Trond Giske opens Visma's
innovation room for assisted living with CEO Visma Øystein Moan

Mr. Giske pointed out that the services presented also would
address a growing consumer market in an aging population.
"It is not a problem that we have an aging population. It is
rather a proof of prosperity that we have a long duration of life
even though we are in bad health", he continued. The minster
reminded those present that innovation and new services are
essential in meeting the continually aging population.
The forces of joint collaboration
The technical solutions that were presented at the opening of the
innovation room have been developed in a joint project between
Visma Unique and Telenor Objects. Visma Unique is already a market
leader as a provider of software to the municipal health and care
sector.
"It is this software that we are now enriching with information
from sensors placed in the homes of people in need of nursing",
says Elin Heir, Program Manager eHealth in Telenor Objects.
Telenor Objects Shepherd™ platform is unique in that it easily
integrates a range of sensors and makes the information from these
transparent to the software applications using it. It is this
value, in addition to special competence in machine-to-machine
communication and sensor integration that has made Telenor an
attractive partner for Visma.
Several newspapers (Dagens Næringsliv, ComputerWorld, Teknisk Ukeblad) have been referring
from the opening, and a news clip from NRK Morgen Nyheter is present
online.
